FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at founder@royaltyinstitute.org. I look forward to growing our young men into Royalty Kings together.

How will the students be taught?

The students will have a hybrid online and in person educational experience. The Academic portion of the student’s curriculum has been outsourced to NFC Academy. NFC Academy is one of the top online homeschool curriculums on the market and we will be partnering with them on core courses. The courses come with an online instructor who can effectively assess every student needs. (Please visit the NFC Academy Website for more information on the academic resources provided by NFC Academy). The second aspect of the young men’s education will be in person. Depending on the program, the young men may have an apprenticeship with any of our partner organizations (so far, we offer barbering and handyman apprenticeships.) The students will receive in person academic support from a licensed, certified instructor in the state of Maryland in collaboration with community organizations based in community service. While on the topic of community service, the students will receive real life project management and networking experience through our community service initiative, which places students on teams completing one community service event a month (each team will complete 3-4 per year). Lastly, the student’s leadership and innovation courses will be taught by Authors (Eric Hood), Lawyers (Justin Wilson) Pastors (Pastor Calvin Smith), Community Members (Antonio Williams) and many more.

What are the graduation requirements?

Fully qualified under NCAA Clearinghouse, completion of Community Service Requirement- 300 Hours over 4 years. Acceptance into 3 or more 4-year institutions. Completion of any specialty program apprenticeship hours (based on the program). Lastly, we will have a coming of age ceremony for our young men at the end of the school year, much in the same way other cultures celebrate their youth moving into adulthood.

How Much Is Tuition for the institute?

Tuition at the institute is $6,000 a year. By following our unique model, we can have an institution that is cost affordable for our community. That said, we have a plethora of other options including a 12-month payment plan and a work study program that makes our school an affordable option for ALL students.

Is this homeschool?

This is not school at all. This is an INSTITUTE where students will become well rounded through the stressing of Leadership Abilities, Innovative Thinking, Academics and Athletics. In order to fully appreciate Royalty, you must first break from the traditional sense of “school” where academia is placed on a platform above the rest of these qualities… at Royalty, they are ALL equally important. Regarding the Academic portion of our curriculum, we are outsourcing that to a certified home school program that will guarantee that students’ academic course is individualized (differentiated instruction is shown to increase student attainment) and mirrors the trends of life (everything is digital).

Will there be teachers there to help?

The short answer to your question is yes. Each of our Leadership courses and specialty programs are taught by individuals in the respective field. There will be instructors there to assist student athletes when they need it. Some instructors will be certified, and others will not but they all will have the ability to help the young men academically. There will be plenty of supervision and assistance.

 Is Lunch Provided?

Lunch is provided for free for our students daily. Lunches provided by the school will be constructed based on the physical development goals of the young men (i.e. young men who are on a weight loss plan, will have a different lunch option than those who need to gain weight).

Is there a graduation and prom?

There is not a graduation at our institute. Our young men take place in a “Coming of Age” ceremony in which we celebrate the time that we have all spent together and the fact that they are now going into the real world. Graduations, in my opinion are too much pomp and circumstance and not enough meat and potatoes. Regarding prom, we will not only have one for us, we are going to assist young men in proper fitting, etc. so that they look like Royalty.

What is the school offering?

I believe that each person answers this question for themselves, however, what I will say is the following:

It is my belief that the Royalty Institute of Leadership and Innovation provides students the ability to grow in a unique manor, based off their strengths, while working to strengthen their weaknesses. Royalty provides the optimum environment for young men to grow into innovators who will lead our world.

Is this a “Second Chance” School?

Again, we are not a school but an institute. We are for ALL young men grades 9-12 who seek to make a change in the world. We have young men from all socio-economic backgrounds, and we pride ourselves on our ability to have these young men work together for a common goal.

Are you “Certified” to run a school?

No, I am not a certified administrator in the state of Maryland. And I believe that is what makes us special. I am an educator who has been on the front lines of developing young men since I left college. I have been in the classrooms, the weight room, the parks and parking lots with the young men to serve. I am in no way a certified administrator and frankly, I have no desire to be one… my goal is for the education of these young men to be driven by the needs of the young men… not the latest “trend” or mandate… and that is no disrespect to people who are these things… this is just the life experiences to never want to be that thing.

What About Colleges?

Our students will leave our institution with fully approved courses to attend any NCAA member school. More importantly, they will leave with the Leadership ability and Innovative mindset to change the world.

Transcripts, SAT and ACT testing:

We will coordinate SAT and ACT test through our school in order to make sure every young man has access to the PSAT and the SAT. Transcripts, Report Cards and your academic path to graduation will be provided upon a meeting with the enrollment specialist.

What are the hours will the Institute operate?

School hours are Monday - Thursday 10:00AM - 3:00PM. If your child plays football, practices are as follows: Tuesday 4:00PM - 6:00PM, Wednesday 7:30AM - 9:30AM, and Thursday 4:00PM - 6:00PM

Does my son have to play a sport in order to qualify for attending the school?

NO, any student is welcome to attend.

What will the schedule look like during school hours?

All core classes are done Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is Leadership development day, there are speakers that come in and talk to the students about developing themselves into young men.

Is football the only sport the school has?

As of right now, yes football is the only sport the school offers. We are looking to expand to basketball soon.
